On January 11th at 11 a.m., First United Methodist Church of Pensacola, Florida will launch its fourth Sunday morning service called ICON. ICON will be the first event to take place in Wesley Abbey, First Methodist’s new worship space located directly behind the historic Governor Perry Home on the corner of Palafox and Wright Street. In October, First Methodist purchased the Gov. Perry Home from the Scottish Rite Masons and have been renovating for the past 3 months. A cutting edge worship space, Wesley Abbey, has the latest in technology including multiple HD projectors and state of the art sound.
ICON will incorporate a creative convergence of contemporary and traditional worship elements,
while utilizing new trends in technology, such as Twitter and Facebook. Rev. Geoffrey Lentz,
associate pastor, and Dr. Wesley Wachob, senior pastor and internationally renowned scholar will
speak. Music will be provided by BANNER, a modern worship band led by Jeb Hunt. Established in
1821, First United Methodist Church is the oldest Methodist church in Florida and the oldest
protestant church in Pensacola.
